Chapter 64: Conclusive Evidence

Lin Dongxue and Xu Xiaodong immediately went to the little community and found a plumber from the small advertisement posted on the bulletin boards. Along with the plumber, they then knocked on the door of Wang Jinsong’s neighbor downstairs.

After a brief explanation, the family was willing to cooperate with the police. The plumber busied himself with the pipes and worked to open the main sewer pipe of the family’s bathroom. He used some tools to scoop out the contents.

“Officers, do you want a cup of tea?” The host family poured cups of tea attentively.

“No thank you. Ah yes, what do you know about the family upstairs?” Lin Dongxue asked.

“Master Wang's family? Although we live in the same building, we don't usually come into much contact since we don’t leave the house very much. But we often hear the sound of them beating their child.”

“Beating their child?

“Yes, the beatings often seem very fierce. Every time, it seems like the father beats him while the mother persuades him to stop and buy something for their child to comfort him. As a parent myself, I don’t think this kind of parenting is very good.”

“Have you heard them doing this over the last two days?”

“Yes! It was three days ago. I heard a bang. Maybe the child smashed something, so the father began his normal punishment. The child cried so much.”

Lin Dongxue and Xu Xiaodong looked at each other. Perhaps the sound was the sound of the deceased falling to the ground.

“Officers!” The plumber called to them.

The two immediately went to the bathroom and saw the plastic cloth that was laid out on the floor. It was covered with some things that the plumber had scooped from the pipes. Lin Dongxue immediately saw clumps of blood and hair inside and she got very emotional.

Lin Dongxue immediately called the team. Once Lin Qiupu heard that she had found evidence, he praised her. “Well done! We will come soon!”

About six o'clock in the evening, several police cars parked outside the building’s community area. The police came up and the owner said with surprise, “What’s happening now?”

Lin Dongxue explained, “We’re going to have to catch someone.”

“Catch someone? Is it the people upstairs?”

“Can I please trouble you all to not make a sound? Sorry for inconveniencing you and bringing you all this trouble.”

“It's okay, don’t worry. Ah right, what did they do?”

After a knock at the door, Lin Qiupu, Peng Sijue and other police officers entered the unit below Wang Jinsong’s together. The people went into the bathroom. Peng Sijue took out the testing kit and checked the contents Lin Dongxue had found. He confirmed with certainty, “It is indeed human blood.”

“Action!”

The police called the property management and knocked on the door of Wang Jinsong’s house, claiming to check the gas for them. When the other party opened the door, the police swarmed in and pressed the couple down on the table.

There was a bang in the living room. Wang Jinsong who saw his father caught was so scared the mug in his hand fell to the ground.

Lin Dongxue walked over and comforted him. “Don't be afraid, we just have something to ask.”

Wang Jinsong was so scared that he turned pale. Lin Dongxue looked into his bedroom and saw the newly purchased game console was currently getting installed.

“What have we done?!” Wang Jinsong's father yelled.

“Still putting up a front?! The framing was done very well!” Lin Qiupu bellowed.

“I don’t know what you're talking about!”

“Search!”

The forensic technicians entered the bathroom. Although it was carefully cleaned here, the luminol test showed that the ceramic floor tiles and the bathtub were full of blood stains. The drain also had large amounts of hair and minced corpse residue.

In front of the conclusive evidence, the husband and wife did not put on an act any longer. They were so scared that blood drained from their faces. Suddenly, the dripping sound of liquid could be heard. Liquid flowed from the legs of Wang Jinsong’s mother to the floor, and the smell of urine filled the house.

“Talk about it. How did you kill the child and cut him up?” Lin Qiupu sat in front of the table.

“I killed him, not my parents!” Wang Jinsong shouted.

“Okay, then you tell me about it then.”

Wang Jinsong’s father shouted, “Jinsong, don’t say it! If you do, our whole family is finished!”

Lin Qiupu slammed on the table. “Is it your turn to speak here?” Then he warned Wang Jinsong, “Child, you are already in the second year of high school. You should have basic judgment capabilities. If you still refuse to tell the truth, then no one can help you.”

Peng Sijue interjected, “Even if you don't say anything, we can also find out the truth. It will only be more unfavorable to you all.”

Wang Jinsong suddenly cried. He kept biting his lip as he confessed. “Officer Uncles, I confess. I will explain it all...”

Wang Jinsong and Du Lei were good friends since childhood, but comparing the academic results of the two could only be said to be comparing that of heaven and earth. Wang Jinsong’s parents often hung words such as “Why don’t you learn from Du Lei?”, “You only know how to play!”, “Why can’t you learn good things from him?” around their lips.

Every time he heard this, Wang Jinsong was irritated. It was not his fault he could not understand after listening in class. His brain was just stupid. Du Lei was smart. If something was to be blamed, it should be his genes. His parents were also stupid.

A few weeks ago, Wang Jinsong made a fuss about buying a PS4; this game console was very expensive, so his parents didn’t allow him to have one. They told him that he needed to rank in the top 30 in order for them to get one.

Unfortunately, Wang Jinsong did poorly on his mid-terms again. Naturally, he could not have a PS4, but he really wanted to play on one. He pleaded with his mom to get one. After his dad found out, his dad fumed, “If I were to buy it for someone stupid like you, I might as well buy it for Du Lei instead!”

Who knew, these words became the fuse that destroyed two families.

On that day, Du Lei ran to Wang Jinsong's house to play, and eagerly showed him something. It was a PS4. Wang Jinsong asked where he got it from since his grandmother was so poor. How could he have had the money to buy this?

Du Lei teased that he wasn’t going to tell him.

Wang Jinsong got more and more suspicious. Did his father really buy it for Du Lei? The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. The two also had a little bit of a squabble while they played together. In anger, Wang Jinsong picked up a vase and smashed it into Du Lei’s face.

Originally, he didn't want to kill him. On TV, people were usually fine after taking a hit to the head from a vase. But Du Lei, who fell to the ground, could only exhale without inhaling.

Wang Jinsong was frightened and called his father. After returning, the husband and wife were scared to death. After calming down, Wang Jinsong’s father asked him if anyone knew that Du Lei came to their house to play.

Wang Jinsong responded that nobody knew, since his grandmother had not returned from going out to buy groceries.

So, they came up with a plan to frame a scapegoat. They heard that Teacher Li’s character in their class was not very good. It seemed like he had been involved in molesting children previously, so they planned to pour the dirty water on Li’s head.

The couple spent nearly two hours dismembering Du Lei in the bathtub, putting the pieces in bags, and going to the school while it was dark. They climbed over the wall and threw the bags into the garbage bin outside of Li’s dormitory.

The police were really fooled, and locked up Teacher Li very swiftly. Then, the viral news talked about how the teacher was an animal. The family’s hanging heart finally fell back down[1], but they didn’t expect...

“How did you find us?!” Wang Jinsong cried.

“Do you really think that the police are that stupid?” Lin Qiupu stood up, “Take them away!”

Wang Jinsong was so scared his mouth hung open. “Didn't you say that you wouldn't arrest us? You deceived us! Big liars!” Then he rushed towards his bedroom but was stopped by Xu Xiaodong's swift motions. Wang Jinsong kept struggling, causing scratches and bleeding on the back of Xu Xiaodong’s hands.

The police present at the scene looked at the scene and thought that the child was really barbaric. To be able to do such an evil act, it was undeniable that it would have been due to his parent’s poor parenting and lack of proper education.
